Two thoughts to save them from perishing

The best part of being a child is that there is no past.

Art is a sense factory that is aware of its emptiness.

The irony of history

10 November 2008

Poland is part of the anti terrorist coalition. At the same time our II WW heroes are called terrorists by Russians. Our more than righterous president is fascinated by Pilsudzki. The same guy who is called fascist in Germany.

Isn’t it ironic?

Luck is skill

14 October 2008

This is my first post here and I’d like to start with explaining the title of this blog. “Luck is skill”. I’ve first heard this phrase some time ago and I’d instantly liked it. At first it was just a gut feeling, but then I wanted to explore this instinct deeper. Isn’t luck beyond human control? Isn’t that something that happens to us? Why such phrase struck a chord in my heart?

I’ve found two facets of this sentence that I particularly liked. The first one is that it means that I have a direct and intrinsic control over my life. And the other one is that of luck is a skill than it can be learned.

It’s often way too easy to blame “others” or “unfair world” for ones failures. Yet I believe that it is the personal decisions that make enormous difference. When one fails at something it means that he haven’t tried enough. Or more often than that he’s approached the problem from a bad angle. Or simply it was a bad problem to wrestle with and he should be doing something completely different at all.

And then there is a second aspect of this sentence. All skills can be developed.  We can get the “luck skill” as granted from our parents, but we can also develop it ourselves.  If one is able to treat his failures not as disasters, but as a possibility to step back, gain a bit of insight and learn than she is already

The bottom line is: Do not be a bad workman that always blames his tools. Your behaviour makes difference both in the short and in the long run.

This is the first post on this blog, but definitely not the last. Updates won’t be frequent, but I’ll try to make each one top-notch and thought provoking. So if you want to bear with me add the RSS feed to your favourite reader.
